From now until next summer, I’m pretty much of the mindset that I won’t any riding on the weekends (with a few exceptions) unless I get RUSA credit for it — so maybe I’ll be able to earn the fabled K-Hound award if I ride my ass off this year! (After this month is tallied, I think I’ll have less than 6,000k to go…)
I wanted to take it easy on Saturday, however, so I chose a leisurely 63-mile permanent down in the South Bay to chip away at my daunting mileage task. TBO and my friend Jorge, who’s also got Paris-Brest-Paris on his bucket list, joined me for the mellow round trip jaunt from San Mateo to Cupertino. While we did have some chilly winds along the way, it was a fine way to spend the afternoon — especially since we enjoyed fried chicken sandwiches and Sapporo beer at our controls!
