Today the San Francisco Randonneurs hosted the Lucas Valley Populaire, a scenic 70-mile route that loops through Marin.
Although I knew I was going to be in for some pain and suffering riding Sarah’s “Marin Sonoma Ramble” 200k permanent on my road bike with standard gearing, the figure-eight loop would take me to some uncharted territory (and I’m always thrilled by the prospect of traveling to new areas.)
My quest for the R-12 award continues its steady march forward, and a permanent owned by our dear RBA, Rob Hawks, was next on the agenda. It’s a 132-mile route with approximately 6000 ft. of climbing and takes a circuitous route from El Cerrito in the East Bay to Davis.
The slow march towards completing my first R-12 continued this weekend. San Francisco Randonneurs hosted a double-brevet weekend where riders rode from SF to Cloverdale (and chose from a 200 or 300k option.)
“Happy Trails To You” is a mostly flat, scenic route that circles the bay and includes 6 trails through the course of the ride: Stevens Creek; Bay Trail, Coyote Hills; Alameda Creek; Coyote Creek; Guadalupe River.
