Our friend Ann generously invited us to stay at her Dartmouth alumni association’s cabin near Mary Lake, so TBO and I hit the road with the Shibas and spent a gorgeous weekend in the Lake Tahoe area.
Instead of doing the usual SFR Cloverdale Double Brevet Weekend (where you choose between riding a 300/200k or 200/200k combo) — TBO and I opted to tag along with Pudu (and his one-armed stuffed monkey sidekick), Kimber and John Guzik for a mellow, beer-infused ride with lots of stops at fine breweries. Seattle-based bag company Swift Industries organized a worldwide “Summer Solstice Campout” this weekend, aka #swiftcampout, that inspired folks to get together for some fun outdoors adventures.
I know the “49-Mile Scenic Drive” was created to showcase San Francisco’s attractions by car — but I’ve always wanted to ride the entire route by bike.
